LEGAL SECRETARY - COMMERCIAL DEPARTMENT – 2 / 3 DAYS PER WEEK.

We are pleased to present an opportunity for a legal secretary to join our established, multi-service law firm. Ideally, the candidate should be an experienced legal secretary but training will be given to the right candidate who may be looking for an entry level position and at the start of their legal career.

The firm’s Commercial department is seeking to appoint a legal secretary to work alongside its existing team to assist in driving forward the department’s expansion and development.

The candidate will ideally have conveyancing experience; possess excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate a team player attitude. 

The principle role of the legal secretary will be to provide support to an allocated fee earner. Conveyancing experience is desirable but we would be interested to hear from legal secretaries from other disciplines as full training will be provided for the right candidate. 

The role will also include Land Registry searches and applications, preparing SDLT forms and submitting to HMRC.

The Candidate

  • A legal secretary with previous experience (ideally with conveyancing experience).
  • Fast and accurate audio and copy typing.
  • Produce and file documents (using the Case Management System).
  • Filing which will include daily filing of correspondence and documents and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files in accordance with detailed procedures.
  • Preparing correspondence and enclosures for dispatch.
  • Making appointments, arranging meetings and maintaining an up to date diary for the fee earner.
  • Provide support to other secretaries as required and requested.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • IT literate - knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and Outlook.
  • Opening files - ensuring ID checks are completed and preparing compliance documentation (client care letters, Smartsearch and Anti Money Laundering documentation).
  • Drafting bills to clients and disbursement bills. 
  • Undertaking online Land Registry searches and act in a responsive way to queries on behalf of lawyers and other legal professionals within the business.
  • Ordering conveyancing searches.
  • Organised with the ability to prioritise.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work within a team as well as individually, whilst demonstrating a proactive and enthusiastic “can-do” attitude. 

Job Specifics:

  • Salary (dependent on experience).
  • Office hours are 9.00am – 5.00pm (one hour for lunch between 1.00pm – 2.00pm).

COMMERCIAL PROPERTY LAWYER

We are expanding our successful Commercial department, including Commercial Property and Corporate and Commercial, supported by the Employment and Dispute Resolution teams. The firm deals with a wide range of high-quality commercial work.

We would be pleased to consider applications from newly qualified and experienced candidates who are used to working with a quality caseload in an established legal practice.

You will be an enthusiastic transactional lawyer, with experience in all aspects of a busy corporate and commercial practice in England and Wales, including:

  • Commercial acquisitions and disposals

We are looking for someone who has experience and a willingness to be involved in corporate support and general commercial work, able to work alone and as part of a team, confident in dealing with a mixed client base comprising well established SME's, owner managed businesses, lending institutions, property investors and developers, housing associations, as well as high net worth private clients.

In addition to your case responsibilities, you would be willing to help provide support alongside the partners in developing the skills of our junior lawyers and to develop the firm’s corporate and commercial client base. Prior experience in business development would be an advantage and an aptitude for marketing will come naturally to you.

LEGAL SECRETARY - FAMILY DEPARTMENT

We are seeking a permanent, full-time Family & Childcare Secretary for our Enfield office WHO will have the following skills.

  • Experience working as a legal secretary including digital dictation.
  • Electronic filing. 
  • Manage telephone calls from clients, Counsel, experts and other third parties and assisting with client queries.
  • To maintain appointment diaries.
  • To ensure compliance with all office procedures.
  • Accurate preparation of client’s bills. 

Your Skills/Knowledge include:

  • Fast and accurate typing skills and spelling.
  • Clear and precise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

RESIDENTIAL PARALEGAL

We have an opportunity for an ambitious, driven and experienced Paralegal to join our Residential Property team based in our Enfield office assisting in the management of residential real estate case files. duties include:

  • Providing clients with high quality and proactive legal advice
  • Opening, preparing and managing files and bundles
  • Drafting contracts, checking titles, preparing initial reports to clients
  • Applying for and reporting on local searches, chancel, environmental, plans searches and drainage searches, index map searches and any other relevant searches

You will have:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organisational abilities.
Proficiency in legal research and preparation of legal documents.
Understanding of pre and post-completion processes.
A team-oriented mindset.

Occasionally, we are able to offer legal training contracts with our legal departments. When a vacancy arises we will advertise at the University of Law and in the Law Society Gazette inviting applicants to send their CV for consideration.
